The Race Is Long — Keep Running
The Christian life is not a sprint. It is a long course with hills, with setbacks, with seasons where forward progress feels invisible. There will be days when the most faithful thing you do is simply not quit.
The writer of Hebrews points to something encouraging: you are not running alone. There is a cloud of witnesses — every believer who ran before you and finished — and there is a fixed race, laid out with intention. The call is not to run perfectly. It is to run with endurance, having laid down whatever is slowing you down.
Hebrews 12:1 says, "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
